Untitled 1

[O] The Black Walker is but legend, dear child.

Trovea runs along the Sea of Shadows. The lowlands stretch 300 miles inland and are covered with salt marshes and swamps called Tidewater. The rolling plain of Osan covers most of central Trovea. To the west of Osan, lies the the Actanthian Mountains. The area is riddled with caverns and covered with cool rivers, clear streams, and lush forests. (more)

As the arena around Blaze began to transform, he sighed inwardly.
Slowly, and with ease, Blaze took one foot off the chair he had been reclining on, letting the other one follow it soon after. And like the ragged eagle that he was, Blaze slowly shook off his loose feathers and stretched his wings, gripping his perch extra tight before launching out into the skies.

Metaphors outside, Blaze calmly picked up his staff with his right hand, traced his hands over a few runes imprinted onto his robes, and sent his disguised moth off to flutter towards Miranda. The little illusion he had borne was unaffected by any of the swirling power that raged around, and soon settled on the girl's shoulder, quite close to her pale cheek. It's affect was minimal yet similar to Susanooh's, so that the small token provided a possibility for relief to the young tormented wizard. If anything, it was Blaze's way of saying, 'Don't be like me.'

Now surrounded by the deranged craft of necromancy, Blaze stood idly at the base of his enemy's perch. As soon as he had gripped his staff, Blaze's focus became clear. The sky above immediately heeded his call, and lent it's immense power to the Air Mage. The winds began to curl around his fragile body, slowly growing with power till he stood centered in an unseen tornado. The power that emerged was like a tightly wound coil that would spring out every so often, lashing out at random forces of unlife. As a result, the sound of a whip cracking in the air could be heard every so often followed by the explosion of skeletal bones.

And with Blaze's soft touch, his voluminous robes began to constrict themselves to their master's body. The sash around his waist began to shine with a luminescent glow while snaking around his body leaving small pieces of mage armor to decorate the immortal's frame.

Finally complete in his transformation, a new more radiant Blaze stood his place, slightly suspended above the ground. One hand clasped the crystalline staff, only requiring a twitch to direct his elemental energy forth, while the other hand stayed free, ready to send out many forms of magic Blaze kept in his arsenal.

Then came Blaze's reply.
"Do what you please, shell, or rather, what your God commands of you. I am here only to witness and assist in your downfall."
The condition of mortality just isn't for me.

Susanooh tilted his head slightly while spreading his arms ever so slightly. It was clear that the Immortal before him was not one to be trifled with. He sighed. His master definitely chose the best opponents for him. What was next? Fifty fire dragons? The necromancer rolled his eyes as he flicked his wrist idly, calling up bone from the pillar upon which he stood. Probably not exactly a good idea to destroy the lower supports, but at least he'd have material to work with; the 'heroes' were destroying his skeletal minions wholesale. With a silent command, he formed spears of bone, glowing faintly with unearthly energy. With a another subtle gesture, Susanooh sent the missiles soaring at the Immortal. Also probably useless, but the undead drow was intent on probing the extent of the mage's defenses.

Even as he sent his projectiles at the Immortal, an idea sprouted in Susanooh's mind. He smiled inwardly before beginning a long incantation. It would require almost all his skill and concentration to battle the mage and keep the words of the deadly spell going...but when he finished, he'd have something to truly test the mage with.
In the name of the best within us.

Blaze let his body hover idly, intent on playing defense for most of the match. He locked his eyes on the necromancer in that lazy sort of way he could afford to keep forever.

At the minimal gesture of offense, Blaze returned the same amount of energy to deflect the attack. By twisting the winds to his design, the bone spears collided with each other, stumbling in their path towards the mage and flying off in random directions.

Blaze made no move to counterattack. Instead, he tilted his staff ever so slightly and began floating over towards Susanooh, in a seemingly innocent gesture. However, with his eyes still locked on the undead drow, and displeased look upon his face, he appeared as a father taking slow strides towards a resilient child, ready to chastise and punish him for his naughtiness.

Without a word of contempt, or glance in any other direction, Blaze slowly kept his pace, closing the gap between him and his enemy, in mid-air.
The condition of mortality just isn't for me.

“Why didn’t I learn how to use magic” muttered Shan as he attempted to force his arm through the purple light that had formed around the young girl. A movement to his right broke his concentration and he tumbled to the floor, his shadowy arm smoking from all the raw magic that was flowing around the destroyed tavern. The movement turned out to be a skeletal horror’s sword whistling through the air as it sped towards his head, there was no time to block or dodge the blow. Shan’s last thought came bubbling up from the depth of his mind I wish I had eaten breakfast…

And then suddenly the skeleton just shattered

Shan gulped slowly and turned around, staring at the piles of bones and the mage with the staff who had destroyed the skeletons in one swift blow. He continued to stare as the mage began to glow with a strange magical light and float towards the Drow, “On second thought I really have to learn magic…” Shan picked himself off the ground and stared around at the destroyed tavern, littered with bones and several corpses and dragged his battered body back over to the nexus of purple light that had enveloped the younger mage.

A moth had attached itself to her shoulder giving Shan the sense that the older mage was watching over her, he slumped against the partially destroyed bar and took a swig from a broken bottle that had miraculously managed to hold its content during the explosions. He drained the contents and began attempting to unravel the energies surrounding the young mage, he wasn’t about to leave an innocent villager to the mercies of any crazy immortal mages and their undead cohorts anytime soon.
I'MMA GONNA EATCHA!!!

The purple aura about Miranda's form flickered a little, and no more skeletons rose from the floor around her. The moth on her shoulder seemed like a buoy in the middle of a stormy ocean, and the clung to it with her mind as if it were exactly that. Her breathing slowed and her eyes closed gently. The purple body of mist disappeared.

Then she began muttering, softly at first but then more loudly. The words were in the old language of the runes she had learned since she was a child, a spell used to call the winds.

Miranda stood up gradually, probably unnoticeable considering the duel of the immortals. Her muttering turned to chanting, and she rose a little off the floor, arms outstretched. Her eyes remained closed as her mind visualised the runic writings from her spellbook -- the advanced chapter at which she had only glanced. Somehow, with the added power of Susanooh, she was able to conjure up the words and images.

Small gusts of wind stirred around her and grew as the volume of her voice increased. Then she fell to the ground and the wind she had conjured hurtled towrads Susanooh and Blaze. Her eyes opened, and she curled her knees up into her chest and began to cry, exhausted.
