Knight

Postby Rasta Bear on Sun Jan 24, 2010 11:49 am

Basic Info

Name: Kimani "Knight"
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Occupation: Tanner's Assistant

General

Appearance: Kimani stands at six feet and has the slender build of a runner. He is mixed so to the average observer he is a white male with a beautiful tan, though he never loses the tan in the winter like everyone else. His eyes are a strange hazel color of bluish brown with a strong brow, sharp nose and full lips. His hair is thick, wild and brown, falling around his face, unkept or tied back in a loose ponytail. He tends to wear cotton shorts, and sleeveless tunics in the summer and cotton pants and wool cloaks over his tunics in the winter. At work he wears thick leather boots and a leather apron though he usually prefers to be barefooted or wear open toed sandals. His left forearm (from the elbow down) is missing due to an "accident".
Personality: Kimani is very quiet in movement and speech and keeps to himself. He tends to gaze at people without blinking at times, which creeps people out. He would rather take the long way to do something if it meant avoiding confrontation and is usually seen walking with his head kept down. On the rare occasions he does open his mouth nowadays a hint of sarcasm is always dripping off the end of his words. Nowadays, The only people who have heard him speak more than a few mumbling words are the town tanner and his mother.
Flaws: He lacks self confidence and has a pessimistic view of the world, usually questioning why he is in it, in the first place. His silence is a major flaw because he does not build relationships with people. He understands this though and does not seem to worry about dying alone. Because of his mothers reputation, he is often teased or picked on by the other men around the town but does nothing to defend himself or his mother. He is ashamed of her and would rather sleep on a roof then be under the same one with her.
Religion: Not religious
Interesting Facts: His mixed complexion comes from his mother, a child of the sun, sleeping with his father, a duskman.

Character Annals

Homeland: Eromus
History: This story starts off on the property of the lord, Henry Talbot. Lord Talbot was a powerful man, and his family has always been rich. His estates were large and tended to by slaves, which have also been in the family for a long time. These slaves were all duskmen or sunrisers. Both groups Lord Talbot had a problem with for no good reason other than their skin color was different that his. He wasn't nice enough to keep it in the race though, he hates all other races just as much, except they are all too strong for him to enslave with his small "army" of human guards. Anyway, Lord Talbot had a daughter, a few actually but this was the youngest and most open minded. Her name is Bethany Talbot. She did not feel the hatred towards others as he and the rest of her family did, and the handmaidens who served her were her best friends, though she had to act as if she were their superior whenever her father was around. A hobby of hers was to look out her window at the men working in the fields. One man had really caught her eye. To her he was beautiful, ebony skin, a large body cut and seemingly without fat, large power arms and legs, and he had a glow about him. Through time they eventually locked eyes and the rest was history.

Lord Talbot refused to have any of the slave men inside his estates, letting the woman cook and clean and handle all other manners of house work. This particular slave was snuck in by Bethanys most trusted servants. After weeks of passion she began to notice her monthly cycle was not coming. Somehow, Bethany miraculously kept her pregnancy a secret to all but her handmaidens and successfully delivered a baby boy who was promptly taken from the mother and given to a wet nurse. She would visit him in the slave quarters late at night as often as she could and he soon grew up to be a slave, learning to work the farm like the rest of the men. He worked along side his father most of the time, looking up to his loving dad who defended him from the others who picked on his because of his mixed blood. When he reached the age of 17, Kimani, so named by his father, made the grave mistake of being to close to Lord Talbot as he was leaving his estate. The man noticed the boys features and had him dragged inside, calling all of his daughters down. One by one they all denied him as their child. Talbot started to beat the boy as the daughters looked on, the youngest shaking slightly as each blow hit her son. He then drew his sword and raised it high above his head when Bethany suddenly jumped to her sons side and screamed for her father to leave him alone. Lord Talbot paused for a moment seeing his daughters face and knew how much she cared for the boy, but he was no nice man. He ordered the father found and killed on the spot and the boy was to be sold by the end of the week, and until then he could not see his mother. Kimani laid beaten and bruised throughout the ordeal until he lifted a hand up and rested it on his mothers shoulder. Lord Talbot pushed his daughter aside and squatted down to Kimani's eye level. "Don't you dare touch my daughter you filthy animal." With that, he cut off Kimani's lower arm with the sword, the boy left howling in anguish and pain.

Kimani woke up days later and moving around beside haystacks and bundles of what must have been clothes. He was inside a wagon and really confused. He tried getting up by grabbing onto a haystack and realized he had no left hand! A bandaged stub was all that was left. Panicking for a moment he laid there and cried himself back to sleep. Waking back up the next day he felt himself not moving and knew the wagon had stopped. Someone came around back and he scooted himself as far from the opening as possible until he recognized his mother and her most trusted servant. His mom looked terrible and wouldn't speak a word. The servant climbed inside the wagon and told Kimani everything that had happened in the last few days. "After seeing her father slice you open, Beth went wild and grabbed his sword, stabbing him repeatedly until a guard shook her off. It was too late of course, she had killed him. Seeing as how Lord Talbot had no sons, his land and everything he owned went to his eldest daughter, Rebbecca. She is alot nicer than I've ever thought and offered to let you and your mother leave but with a warning to never come back or she would have you both killed on sight. Your father unfortunately was not given the chance to be free and may be dead already, we rode quite a ways away...Anyway, you and your mother will start a new life here. In the surrounding bags are clothes, dry food, water, and enough money to get you checked out by a doctor and to get a roof over your heads. I'm...I'm sorry this all ended the way it did." With that she exited the back of the wagon with Kimani, both carrying bags and dumped them on the road. She gave a kiss to Bethany on the forehead then got back on the front of the wagon and rode off leaving Kimani and his mother on their own, right outside a gate leading into the empire of Eromus. Since then, Bethany has become a whore to get money which she spends more on herself than the house or Kimani and Kimani has gotten a job to help pay the rent of his living quarters. His mom seems to hate him because her love was killed, but he still holds an affection towards her for saving his life, even if she can't look him in the eye anymore.

Abilities

Special Abilities: Nothing special about him besides teaching himself to read and write. In the process of learning he had written his name down the wrong way when signing the leasing papers to his house. Luckily the carrier saw the error and taught Kimani how to spell his name, but from then on he started calling him "Knight". The nickname stuck and almost everyone calls Kimani that now.
Weapons: None at the moment.
Other: His left arm has since had an attachment added to it made of different metals, leather, hooks and bolts. The end has a socket to connect additional pieces to. So far he has a wooden arm with a glove over it and a wooden arm with a bread knife permanently attached to the hand. On the left side of his neck is a tattoo he had created for him. Though it doesn't have a technical meaning, he was drawn to getting the tattoo after dreaming the shape one night.
His Mother: http://s766.photobucket.com/albums/xx30 ... navate.jpg
Companions: None
Closest Too: Mother (If you can call it close...)
Quotation: "Can you lend me a hand? I've seemed to misplaced mine" -First day on the job.

Hey Buddy!

What a cool character. I'm so glad you decided against fixing some crazy magical whatnot to Kimani's stump and having him blast away enemies when "he gets angry." Ha, I like what you have, and would be very interested to see what a roleplay with knight looks like.

Take care, bear. Stay with us and have fun on the boards.
